Bright lights, big bulbs

I recently moved house, working out that it had been 25 months since I’d slept in my own bed. Sounds more exciting than it was.

Maybe.

So my mind is wandering into interior design, more than I’ve allowed it to for that many months, trying to suppress my nomadic urges for a spell. The above is some good advice from The Australian Girls’ Book of Crafts, Pets, Sports and Hobbies, a favourite of mine from ’69. I like that the girl is about to hang a Hendrix poster. If you’re wondering, I’m a “studio room” sort.

When I’m thinking about new room layouts, not a day goes by that I don’t regret missing this lightbulb light on ebay (photos saved from the auction page, note the taped together butcher’s paper backdrop) in late 2008. Some naysayed, some ummed and ahhed and me, I just plain didn’t bid on time. GBT saw a similar one in Istanbul of all places, but I am yet to come across another. If you see one, let me know. I’m serious.

  1. THAT MOMMA is a beauty of a bulb!!!! Congrats on your new pad. I actually have a home furnishing you found?/bought? Carl gave it to me as he cleaned out his studio. It’s a vintage, semi ornate vanity mirror. I thank you for this.

Oh I’m so glad it has a good home! I bought it at the flea in Fort Greene and lugged it from there to bedrooms in Prospect Lefferts Garden, Williamsburg and then the studio. I fell for the pale butter yellow.
