Mass Action

Already 26 hours in, with 64 to go, art collective Brown Council are in a baking frenzy at the CWA (Country Women’s Association) Potts Point chapter, baking all 137 cakes in the latest CWA recipe book Jam Drops & Marble Cake.

I set up a site for MASS ACTION where you can follow their progress (and also spy on them via video feed). It will make you
hungry. There are also two writers in residence, Ianto Ware & Jane Howard who are documenting BC’s progress and the feminist implications of this endurance work. Or, of course, you can just look at the cakes, including the failed, fallen & sunk.

If you’re in Sydney, you can go visit WED 29th-FRI 31st Aug, 10am-3pm at: CWA 11 Greenknowe St, Potts Point. On Saturday, the cakes will be put before the official CWA judges and then eaten at an afternoon tea. I’m also living in hope that the experience is so life-changing for these pals that they continue to bake cakes forevermore and I get to eat them.
